How Article Marketing Compares To Other Online Marketing Strategies

Online marketing strategies come and go, vary widely, and can offer a great deal of disappointment. Article marketing offers the greatest range of effectiveness, but many webmasters still wonder how it differs from other online marketing strategies. Here is a little information that may help to demystify online marketing strategies and help you decide which one is best for you.

There are dozens of online marketing strategies to choose from, but the most popular are:

  • Pay-per-click also known as PPC
  • Email marketing
  • Web 2.0
  • Social media marketing
  • Article marketing

PPC

Pay-per-click is not for the low budget webmaster. This can be the most expensive of the online marketing strategies listed. After doing some keyword research, you have to decide two things: how much you are willing to spend on each click and how much you are willing to spend each day. To see how much this can cost, you have to keep in mind that the top three results on every search engine page are paid ads. The more you pay-per-click the sooner your ad appears. If you pay well for an ad it may appear on the first page of results, but will get clicked often enough that your budget will have to be huge or it will be eaten up in a matter of minutes. After your daily budget is spent, your ad will not show up until the next day. It is quick and easy to spend thousands of dollars on this strategy and if your product and service is good you can actually make money.

PPC isn’t for newbie’s, it’s a practice that takes a lot of trial and error. Trust me when I say many people have failed big time with this method. I personally do not use PPC as I don’t want to spend my hard earned money this way.

E-Mail Marketing

E-mail marketing is as common as grass in summer. You might have heard before that the money is in the list. Well it’s true and it can be easily adapted to many marketing strategies. Email Marketing consists of creating an opt-in form on your website or blog – were you collect names and email address. You can then use this list of names and emails to market your products and services too. The process can be done very easy or it can be tailored to achieve immense results.

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is often kicked around. Some people think that it is outdated as online marketing strategies go. Those people probably still think that the Moon landing was a hoax, really guys. Web 2.0 is still a viable way to gain organic search engine ranking. This is a conglomeration of on-page factors. It encompasses meta-tags, meta-description, content, keyword density, and on site blogs. These factors are all free once you have built your site. It is a great way to get traffic to a site if you happen to have all of the keywords that are being searched for. If you are mired in the rankings behind people who captured the top keywords before you arrived, you will stay there if you rely on this strategy alone.

Social Media Marketing

As Facebook and Twitter become more popular, social media marketing comes to the fore front of online marketing strategies. This is done is different ways. Tweets to your followers or Facebook ads and a page for your company can easily be used. Of course, you need a following to begin with or no one will read your tweet or bother looking at your page.

Article Marketing

Article marketing is the true gem in online marketing and the most successful of the strategies. Its success lies in its simplicity, lack of expense, and ease of use. Any webmaster can sit down and market an article. Maybe not write the article well, but market it. The majority of article directories are free. All that you have invested is time and the money to buy a well written, keyword rich article. Article marketing offers you the greatest amount of exposure for your website for the lowest possible cost.

The beginning webmaster with a low budget cannot afford most of the online marketing strategies that are popular today. Web 2.0 will get you part of the way to profitability, but does not offer your website the kind of exposure that is needed for a large volume of targeted traffic. You still need to bring targeted prospects to you opt-in form for email marketing, so that leaves article marketing. Article marketing is very inexpensive and can easily be combined with other online marketing strategies. Online marketing strategies differ in their scope. What you have to decide is how much you are willing to spend on each type you use and go from there.
